rural developmentMembership shall be open to anyone who subscribes to the principles and values of ILIMALETHU, as reflected in the Homepage and About Us sections, and members can join any chapter of the organization, irrespective of whether they are inside or outside of the given province.

Members that are based outside of South Africa shall also be encouraged to open chapters of ILIMALETHU (Examples: Canada, United States, Europe, Japan, and other areas). A chapter can only be opened outside of the country if there is a minimum of six members, and the main objective would be to mobilize skills, funding and other resources for projects in South Africa.

The current membership fee is R300.00 ($50.00) per year, but will be subject to review by the national executive committee at the annual general meetings. Membership fee for the year will be the same irrespective of the time of payment during the year, and will be effected through an appropriate membership form. Members shall also be free to make or accumulate donations towards projects of their choice.

Community organizations that require assistance will be encouraged to pay a group membership fee (equivalent to two full members). They will then be asked to provide the national body with names of two contact persons that will serve as a link with ILIMALETHU.

Criteria for termination of membership will be made available to all members on request, as membership information is currently undergoing review.
